How Super Mario Maker 2 Players Use Pipes, Mushrooms And Luigi To Make Mario Travel Through Time.
Super Mario Maker 2 has been out for over four years. In those four years the community discovered countless glitches, built insane contraptions and created levels so difficult that only very few people on this planet have the necessary skills to beat them. So with me finally awake again after my long beauty rest, I thought it might be fun to take a look at some of the discoveries the Super Mario Maker 2 community had over the last couple of years.
We will first add a new entry to our dangerous list of evil by talking about grounding, we will make goodies go invisible by exploiting Super Mario Maker’s drawing limit, we will chat about a weird glitch called hop chop entanglement, will discover one of the biggest scientific breakthroughs since the invention of the wheel, will take a short detour to talk about another Nintntendo creator community that had a lot of interesting things happen recently, and we will take a look at the shino pipe tech, an interesting glitch that not only allows to swim through air, but also allows for crazy time traveling shenanigans.

I really like having a text box that confirms I grabbed a Blue Coin. Sometimes I snag a Blue Coin up so quickly, my brain needs a moment to register I got one. Also, a lot of these Blue Coins are in precarious positions, so while the screen is in pause, I can reconsider if Mario needs to change the direction he is walking or jumping.
Almost perfect list. In my opinion, ruined kingdom is better than cloud kingdom because it looks cooler and has a better boss fight. I would also rank mushroom kingdom at 5 fuzzies because of its nostalgia.

@CeaveGaming Pink Baby Yoshi is no power-up, Pink Baby Yoshi is a dinosaur, and dinosaurs are allowed. Since the rules just say that you should hold down, and not to constantly duck, this is a viable strategy.
Ceave, i have an idea. A crazy idea. An over-the-top, completely insane, ultra, desperately and very crazy idea. A level that forbids directional inputs. Im not even sure if its possible and you may need psycrow.
That would basically just be a big tower, right? It could push you around I guess, like a timing puzzle where youre like, I wish I could move around right now. I don't think that would be very hard to make, though

You know this theory has some real solid ground when it literally predicted the design philosophy of Pikmin 4. Thought of that when Pikmin 3 was brought up as one of the final examples of actual meaningful progression in a Nintendo game and, suprise suprise, aside from a few required tutorial bits the game is SO much more open ended than 3. I am not 100% sure how much is required to actually beat the game, if you can do it with just red pikmin or if you need more types (think you need Ice pikmin but I dont know), but either way the linear progression of 3 is gone for sure.
2030: can we beat super mario odyssey while crouching, avoiding all enemies, coins, and powerups while not touching the ground and ALSO making mac and cheese whilst babysitting a five year old as you're getting a college degree chemistry and using you nose to control the game. For real this run is quite odd-to-see! 😮

Obviously you could always find a parallel where the "pause" is failure. Speaking of framing. It's you that's putting that frame on when in the context of SMS saving is usually a sign of progression. I do agree that perhaps the system would benefit from some more clear explanation. But then again, in older games you didn't have freaking cutscenes for every new object, item, token to explain in detail what you have to do. It left a lot of freedom for exploration. It left you room to fail and discover. The first time I played I would collect all the blue coins first and immediately get shines that way. But then the game would seem to drag on as I had a lot of stages to finish left even though it felt like I was already quite far. In another run I would just save them up and go to get like 10 shines at once, much more rewarding and I kind of forced myself to be at around the same level for each stage. This way the progress felt more natural to me. But the game allows you to really play however you want to. Maybe I'm just too nostalgic, but I also think it's kind of easy to look for and find flaws in games from the past with our current frames of what it means for a game to be "rewarding". I mean your opinion of course nothing wrong with that. But as I stated, you can find an example of any mechanic being used in any frame nowadays. I sometimes find myself wishing more games were as unclear and puzzling as SMS. Giving me the option, perhaps intentionally, to play the game the way it wasn't intended to be played and getting to certain shines just by theorizing a cheesy method. Getting no instructions and ignoring the ones you do get.
